Journey to Atlantis was built by German ride manufacturer Mack GMBH. It is the first ride of its kind in America that combines both a roller coaster and water ride experience. A similar ride called the Atlantica SuperSplash, built by the same manufacturer is featured at Germany's Europa Park.
The contractor for the ride is San Antonio-based Guido Brothers Construction.

Building Facts:
- The ride took 100,000 man-hours to build
- Each boat weighs 9,400 pounds
- More than 150 gallons of paint were used to cover the structures at Journey to Atlantis ride area.
