Those of us who work at seasonal theme parks often get this question from guests, family, curious strangers and even team members from our sister parks. You might think we just pack up and go home or watch SeaRescue episodes all day, but this is far from the case.

What do you get when you take SeaWorld San Antonio, a lemur, Mix 96.1, some cheerleaders, a few whales and over 1,000 runners? Give up? The answer is SeaWorld San Antonio’s Third Annual Run for the Fund!

Ah, the sounds of Summer at SeaWorld San Antonio - the energetic music of Shamu Rocks!, the giggling of children frolicking around Sesame Street Bay of Play, and the pitter patter of….little webbed feet!

Over the past several months an incredible number of ducklings, goslings and other chicks have hatched at SeaWorld San Antonio, including Red-Crested Pochards, North American Ruddy Ducks, Mandarin Ducks, Hooded Mergansers, Cinnamon Teal, Scarlet Ibis and Roseate Spoonbill. Some species, like the Hawaiian NeNe Goose, are endangered.

Put on your best black and white outfit! Grab a fish sandwich for lunch! Put a penguin movie in the DVD player, waddle around the house with your hands stuck out from your sides, and make loud, trumpeting sounds! Why? Because today is World Penguin Day, of course!

After many months of planning and several different artist illustrations, we now have our very first Aquatica park map! Operations, Marketing and designers worked in tandem to create this visual. Since no one carries paper maps around a waterpark, we won’t hand this out at Aquatica. Instead, we will have several “you are here” signs to help guests find their way around the park. You will also see this map on brochures and our website.

When you meet a walrus for the first time they have so many unique characteristics that catch your eye. Large eyes, broad shoulders, lots of blubber, and tusks. A lot of people don’t know both the male and the female walrus have tusks.

My job is cool. For years I' ve enjoyed a career training and performing with beluga whales and Pacific whitesided dolphins, but I recently got to experience something that I never dreamed I would. I've never been one to play sports but last week I found myself on a football field in Tampa, Florida. As if being on the 50 yard line wasn't enough, I got to witness one of the most amazing athletes dash across the field at amazing speeds. But this athlete was no member of the football player. He was a cheetah! Yes, you heard me! A

Many people often ask me what happens when the park closes. Does it slow down? Do you have less work to do? The answer always surprises them. When the park closed, it is one of the busiest times of the year! Entertainment is rapidly tearing down old themes and replacing with the new look for next year.
