SeaWorld San Antonio prides itself on the care given its animal residents. Recently the Association for Zoos and Aquariums officially recognized our park for our animal care standards and the success of our conservation and and education programs.

The day my husband and I adopted our cat Woody from the animal shelter, we really weren’t planning on taking anyone home with us. We had just gone to look around on one of those “nothing else to do” Sunday afternoons. We had already discussed getting a companion for Jake, our other rescued cat, and we knew that our best option would be to adopt from a shelter.

Now that summer is coming to a close and “Back to School” time is here, we would like to share some of the many resources we have for teachers. From online materials to in-park programs, we provide resources that enable students and guests to develop a lifelong appreciation, understanding, and stewardship for our environment.

To be a great trainer, I need to be able to train a variety of animals through a variety of techniques. A perfect trainer at SeaWorld can work both pinnipeds (seals, sea lions, and walruses) and cetaceans (whales and dolphins.)

To this example, I have been moved around a bit in my animal training career at SeaWorld San Antonio. I started as an apprentice at Shamu Theater, then worked at Beluga Stadium seven years ago. After one year working in the Interaction Programs, I have been at the Sea Lion Stadium for the last five years.
