Project Puffin: Day 11

Tuesday, July 19th – my last full day on the island! It was a busy day, starting at 6 AM with a weather check and a walk down to the sea to check the temperature. Luckily for me, it was too foggy to do bird count. You can imagine my disappointment at not having to drag a spotting scope up the precarious spiral staircase of the lighthouse, then climbing a ladder to stand in the morning wind to count hundreds of birds. Climbing back into bed for another hour was definitely a treat, but right after breakfast we sprang into action.

New Year….New Penguins!

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays behind us, most of us are finding time to finally kick back, relax, and maybe play with some of our Christmas presents or work on our new years resolutions. But here at the SeaWorld San Antonio Penguin Encounter, things are anything but relaxing!

Check Out These Cool Chicks! Penguins at SeaWorld Are Breeding

This holiday season there will be new exciting additions in the Penguin Encounter at SeaWorld San Antonio. Penguin breeding season began in September and is now in full swing. I was curious myself to see how the penguins were doing so I took a visit to the Penguin Encounter and spoke with Linda Weisenmiller, an aviculturist who specializes in birds.
