One of the greatest joys of working at SeaWorld San Antonio is participating in the outreach events that are available to team members. Knowing that actions speak louder than words, I find that reaching out is very rewarding.

We are so fortunate to have such greats fans and supporters on our Facebook page for SeaWorld San Antonio. We reached out to one of our, as we like to call them, "Facebook Superfans" to see if he would be interested in being a guest blogger.

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year! I know that our pumpkin-headed rockstar, Jack shares this sentiment with me. So what could be better than spending Halloween with him? You could win some prizes while you are taking your Flat Jack around town!

You might have visited the park recently and seen signs for Discovery Dollars? You might also be wondering what exactly is Discovery Dollars? It is an all new program allowing our guests to be hands free when it comes to paying for food, drinks, souvenirs, tours and interaction programs.

We have a lot of fun here at SeaWorld - amazing shows, exciting rides, and endless opportunities for families to have a great time together. But the most important thing we do has always been taking care of animals - both in our park and out in the natural environment. Ever since the very first SeaWorld opened in San Diego CA back in 1964, we have consistently been there to answer the call when animals need our help.

Most people take their summer vacation in the summer. That would make sense as it is the time when our parks are at their fullest. But what about those of us who work at a theme park? Our job is to work when other people play. So we play when other people are too cold to. Where do we go? What do we do? I posed that question to five of our bloggers. 2011 marks the 15^th year of the Bar-B-Que Cook-off, and the second year that the event is being held here at SeaWorld San Antonio. If you haven’t been to this event it is a must see! We are the world’s largest marine park and we were still in awe of the size and creativity involved in this event.

2011 has begun and it is in full swing. If you happen to be one of the people who made a new year’s resolution, but are having trouble keeping it, why don’t you try a greener approach to the New Year? There are several ways to be more environmentally conscious. Many ways are small things that you can do every day. Take those small changes and help build a greener future!

One of the ways SeaWorld San Antonio raises money for its annual United Way fund drive is through a pie-eating contest. Very messy but very fun! Check it out.
