Meet the Aquaticans: Ke-Re

As the opening of Aquatica approaches on May 19, we'll be introducing you to the characters of Aquatica. These characters are imagined identities of the real animals of Aquatica, from stingrays and kookaburras to spoonbills and lizards. As you learn more about these characters, it's our hope that you come to appreciate the species they represent. Their look and names are inspired by the Maori culture - a culture that has inspired many elements of Aquatica.

Filming a Special on Sea Turtles

I really enjoy my job! SeaWorld gives me awesome opportunities to do some interesting things. My latest opportunity was to once again contribute to our education based TV show Shamu TV: Saving a Species. A two day journey to Florida allowed me the opportunity to learn and teach about the plight of the sea turtle. This is truly a waterpark like no other you have experienced in this part of the world. Many waterparks are known for steel towers, lots of concrete and, unfortunately, crowds. Atla Learns a Bow - Part 1

Ever wonder how SeaWorld animal trainers teach an animal to do the amazing behaviors that you see in shows? Your search for knowledge is over! This is the first in a series of vlogs hosted by the Animal Training team at the Beluga Stadium designed to give you an inside glimpse as to how we train animals. The first behavior to be demonstrated… teaching a two year old beluga whale named Atla how to do a jump, which we call a bow. Check back every few weeks to see her progress.

Marching for Babies at SeaWorld

The March of Dimes March for Babies 5K Run/Walk is one of the largest walking events, both locally and nationally. SeaWorld had the great honor of hosting the event again this year. With about 11,000 participants at the April 14 march, the event keeps growing.
