We are accustomed to watching killer whales leap majestically from the water, getting kisses from beluga whales and having sea lions smile at us. But it’s that time of year when heads turn as dogs stroll through the park and spend the day in the offices of their human friends. Yep … Bring Your Dog to Work Day is finally here!! In its third year at SeaWorld San Antonio, it’s a highly anticipated event for team members
Ever wonder what the view is like from underwater?
Most people think of dolphins and whales when SeaWorld comes to mind. Who doesn’t love touching the smooth skin of a bottlenose dolphin or seeing a killer whale drench the first 15 rows of Shamu Stadium? Don’t get me wrong … I love dolphins and whales, but I have tons of fun everyday hanging out with Clyde & Seamore so I think everyone should love them just as much as I do!
Wordless Wednesday: Happy Birthday Keet!

Keet is the first second-generation killer whale born in a park. He was born at SeaWorld San Antonio on February, 2 1993.
Sakari's First Birthday!
Here at SeaWorld San Antonio, we are celebrating something very special as well as the New Year this weekend. Our newest addition to the killer whale family, Sakari, is turning 1! She was born at SeaWorld San Antonio on January 7, 2010 to Takara, our 18-year-old killer whale.
Wordless Wednesday: Alamo Bowl Teams at SeaWorld
OSU players took a swim with a beluga whale.
AU players met up with a walrus.
Our Newest Killer Whale is Oh, So Sweet!
Sakari, meaning “sweet,” is the newest addition to our killer whale family. Born to Takara on January 7, this little girl is growing and learning by leaps and bounds every day.
Recently Sakari has begun to explore her heightened sense of curiosity. Though she is still nursing, her mom has been sharing fish and Sakari has been playing with them quite frequently.
Education Leads to Understanding and Conservation
Ask anyone in the Zoological Operations Department at SeaWorld about how their career working with animals began, and I'm positive that most of the answers you hear will be very similar to my own.
When SeaWorld San Antonio opened in 1988, my family got season passes right away. I remember my first Shamu show so clearly, I can tell you what seat I was sitting in.
Getting Creative: Artistic Animals
Shows are a very small part of an animal's day here at SeaWorld. They are learning new behaviors, getting their check-ups and of course playing. We have an extensive enrichment program here at the park for all of the species we care for-from fish to whales. Environmental enrichment keeps the animals' days engaging.
Our animals are so well cared for that their food and shelter are provided for them.
