SeaWorld Wave-TV: What’s New…In the Bird House and on the Blog Team

August 28, 2009 by Kami Huyse • Comments Off Posted in Video, WAVE TV

There’s always a crop of new chicks, and by that we mean birds,  from different species arriving at SeaWorld. There’s also a crop of new bloggers joining the team who will soon start showing up right in this space.

Wave TV is SeaWorld San Antonio’s bi-weekly video feature program created for team members. Wave TV debuted in 2005 and was originally conceived to showcase park events for team members as they rode the shuttle bus to their workstation. Last year, this award-winning communications program moved to the SeaWorld YouTube channel.

Editor’s Note: ‘Pirates Plunder,’ SeaWorld San Antonio‘s pirate stunt show, runs through Sunday, Aug. 23, so be sure to come out and see the show if you haven’t already.  SeaWorld is open daily this week with various operating hours.  Click here for a complete schedule.

Our behind-the-scenes correspondent, Moni Villanueva, recently went backstage at ‘Pirates Plunder.’  Watch her experience on WAVE 360˚, where Moni witnessed first-hand what it takes to be a pirate at our park.

Meet Our Team

July 2, 2009 by FranStephenson • 1 Comment » Posted in Blog Team Profiles, Video

We have nearly three months of blog posts under our belt, and we’ve been so busy at the park, that we haven’t had as much time to introduce the team as we would like.  Here are six more members of our blog team…

Chris Jordan has a unique perspective from his positiona in Entertainment.  You can meet him in his introduction video and watch for him to share the secrets of our entertainment philosophy.

Jack Harvey, from our Day Camp team, started at SeaWorld as a camper and now takes care of thousands of kids who attend a camp at our park.  Jack really understands how this generation is using social media.  Meet him here.

Not many CEO’s understand, much less embrace social media.  Dan Decker, SeaWorld’s general manager is really helping drive many of our new initiatives.  And he’s such an avid fan of our company, you’d swear that he’d tattooed the logo on his back.  Get to know Dan in this postcard.

Most of our guests don’t meet the members of our Finance Team, but Paul Guerra has a family tradition of working for SeaWorld.  Find out more about Paul here.

Jan Warner is one of those rare people who never seems to have a bad day and knows our arrival processes inside and out.  She is incredibly proud of her military heritage.  Meet Jan in her video postcard.

Not many team members are as passionate about advocating for guests as Jennifer Bailey and she is mom to triplets.  Hear about Jennifer here.

Hope you enjoy these profiles.  Have a safe holiday weekend.

For the community, Fran.

Meet Our Bloggers

May 13, 2009 by FranStephenson • 3 Comments » Posted in Meet My Friend..., Video

Today I’d like to introduce four personalities from SeaWorld’s Social Media Team.  Anna Lisa Aguirre, our EHS Manager is one of the most environmentally active people I have ever met.  She lives and breathes conservation and recycling. Learn more about Anna Lisa in her video profile.

Trisha Dees has everyone’s dream job. Each day she hops in the water with our resident sea lions, walruses and otters AND she performs in Cannery Row Caper, their hilarious detective thriller.  She is also the cheerleader, fundraiser and advocate for the SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Conservation Fund.  See Trisha’s video profile to see just how passionate she is.

Chuck Cureau is another outstanding animal trainer and motivational leader at SeaWorld San Antonio.  He was so excited to make his first blog post, he called me on the phone to share the moment. If you don’t already know him, here’s Chuck’s video profile.

Finally, Paige Newman is one of those can-do people that everyone should get to know.  She has a smile that will light up a room, she like sharks – of all things – and never stops learning about our animals.  Here is a moment with Paige.

I hope you will come to love their diverse viewpoints and enthusiastic voices as much as I have.

Meet Chance Sanford: Is Camping Really a Job?

April 21, 2009 by FranStephenson • 2 Comments » Posted in Meet My Friend..., Video

At SeaWorld San Antonio, camping is a JOB! And there’s no one more passionate about our animals and programs than Chance Sanford, Manager of Education and Conservation. Chance has been with SeaWorld as a team member for more than 10 years, but his first experience at our park goes back to when he was 15 years old and came to a SeaWorld camp for the very first time.  He’s in charge of everything camp – day camps, resident camps and sleepovers.  He even met his wife here. Last year, he successfully worked with the Alamo Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America   to offer a combined sleepover/badge program.  We have had such great success with local Girl Scout programs   that it was a natural progression. In case you were wondering if a summer job can lead to a career working with animals, the answer is a resounding YES!  Chance is just one of 20 team members whose voices will be heard in What’s Under the Sea in the coming months.   Enjoy Chance’s video profile.
