Ever wonder how SeaWorld animal trainers teach an animal to do the amazing behaviors that you see in shows? Your search for knowledge is over! This is the first in a series of vlogs hosted by the Animal Training team at the Beluga Stadium designed to give you an inside glimpse as to how we train animals. The first behavior to be demonstrated… teaching a two year old beluga whale named Atla how to do a jump, which we call a bow. Check back every few weeks to see her progress.
What's in a Name(tag)?
At SeaWorld San Antonio “we’re a little different around here”…I have become known for this phrase based on a blooper reel we showed at a recent Team Member Communication Meeting. Well, it’s true. There are a number of things we do at our park that are unusual in our company and in our industry. One of those things is how we format our team members’ name tags. Of course each team member is issued a name tag with their first name printed in large font.
SeaWorld's Springing Forward with Savings!
As we Spring Forward and change our clocks, we're also Springing into Night at SeaWorld San Antonio with extended hours and exciting shows, March 10-17!
Aquatica Is Rising From The Sea
Right before our eyes Aquatica is coming together and the excitement is building! As we started the process of planning Aquatica we knew this area was going to go through a dramatic change. We decided early on to put up a camera to take a picture every minute of the day. Recently we put together the pictures taken from November through January of this year to create this time lapse video.
Park is Closed… No Doze!
Many people often ask me what happens when the park closes. Does it slow down? Do you have less work to do? The answer always surprises them. When the park closed, it is one of the busiest times of the year! Entertainment is rapidly tearing down old themes and replacing with the new look for next year.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is my favorite time of year. It brings back memories of caroling and driving down neighborhood streets to gaze at the lights. (Charlie Brown, the Grinch and Rudolph had as big of impact, but that is for another discussion…) And now to see it in the park brings joy to my heart.
SeaWorld Goes to the Dogs
We are accustomed to watching killer whales leap majestically from the water, getting kisses from beluga whales and having sea lions smile at us. But it’s that time of year when heads turn as dogs stroll through the park and spend the day in the offices of their human friends. Yep … Bring Your Dog to Work Day is finally here!! In its third year at SeaWorld San Antonio, it’s a highly anticipated event for team members
