I am one of those people in this world who loves their job, or in my case job(s). I am lucky enough here at SeaWorld to have had a wide variety of responsibilities that takes me from project to project often changing by the hour during the course of a day. I also am fortunate to have other great jobs with the San Antonio Spurs, San Antonio Stars, volunteer on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, oh and did I mention I got married last year too. Someone asked me recently “what’s a normal day in the life of Tim like?” I paused, then responded with “it’s never normal” and thought it may make for an interesting blog so here it is.

For this blog I went back and randomly chose a day from my calendar to see what I was up to at this time last year, and here it is. When I arrive at work I usually start plowing through email and checking our facebook and twitter pages to answer guest questions. 9:00am and time for my first meeting. It’s at Nautilus Amphitheater for a multi department walk through of our concert/festival area. 10:00 and I’m now at Lost Lagoon. We were soon to open Sidewinders which was nearing completion. Here the contractors, Design & Engineering and Operations discussed progress, punch lists and mostly made sure that we were still opening the attraction on time!

At 11:00 there was a SeaWorld iPhone app phone call with our corporate office to discuss which animals we would feature, and how we wanted the GPS directions to work. I am guessing I may have eaten at noon since my calendar is blank from 12:00 – 1:00. I usually take advantage of this time to catch up on email and do some interaction on our social media sites.

At 1:00 I had a call with the World Waterpark Association about a party we were going to host for them in October when the convention came to San Antonio. 2:00 and I had an hour blocked out for expense reports which means Cindy, our admin, the person who keeps us all in line told me I was about to have late reports and she was going to help me get them done. This usually ends up with me just getting out of her way. 3:00 and I am having a meeting to contact our Viva La Musica bands about their needs when they arrive in San Antonio. In Entertainment this is called “Advancing” the show. This is often “interesting”. I really like to see what the bands and artists requests at their shows. 4:00 and I had a Praise Wave meeting. At this meeting we discussed our map message, internet look and the VIP package.

Its game day, or as we call it in San Antonio…Spursday! April 9th and we are playing the Memphis Grizzlies. I arrive at the AT&T Center about 90 minutes prior to game time. This allows me to get some food in the media room, pick up the sheets I use to do stats and get courtside to my seat to get settled in and ready for the action. During the game I track stats courtside for the Spurs television broadcast.

After the game I head home, and that part I mentioned about getting married is waiting for me. I have no doubt there was a small wedding planning meeting/discussion held before I was able to finally get some rest and start a new at the jobs I love the next day. It’s Saturday after all and we are open!
