Just another day at the office.Meet the SeaWorld San Antonio Maintenance Dive Team. This diverse group of professionals (former military servicemen, students, a chef, a computer programmer, fathers, and one mother) is responsible for the upkeep of all pools, tanks, and even the water ski lake. If it happens underwater, they are involved. Their day starts at the crack of dawn when most of us are still sleeping. They spend the majority of the day in wetsuits and underwater insuring that all pumps and sumps are functioning properly, fixing an occasional break in a mechanical device, and making sure that the pools are free from algae and debris (and by debris I mean animal poop!). When many of the SeaWorld team members are warm and dry, these 12 individuals are wet, cold, and making it possible for our animals to have a clean and safe home environment. They are truly unsung heroes of the park.
So the next time you're in the park and see a pool that is remarkably clean, think of my friends Darryl, Dan, Jon, Patrick, Jim, Art, Blair, Matt, Rob, John, Ralph, and the lovely Nora (she's a saint for putting up with all those boys!). The SeaWorld Maintenance Dive team is a top notch group of co-workers... and a terrific group of friends. (And by the way, diver Jim sure knows how to throw a great party!)
Continued success and blessings,
