Now that the holidays are over, and just when you thought you were safe from delicious snaking temptations – January brings Girl Scout Cookie time! Now, I’m a Samoa girl myself, (mmm, I like to eat them frozen and broken over ice cream), and I know a lot of people who can’t get enough of their Thin-Mints, but here at SeaWorld, we love each and every Girl Scout Cookie in a big way. Along with our friends from the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, 2011 marked our eighth year hosting their annual Girl Scout Cookie Rally.

This event hosted almost 3000 girls from local Girl Scout troops. Their day started with a super fun tail gate party in our giant parking lot, where they got a chance to earn patches and participate in games and activities. Then they headed into the park to spend time visiting some of our animals, including dolphins, sharks, penguins, and sea lions. The day culminated in a cookie sales pep rally at Sea Lion Stadium, where the girls not only got energized about this year’s cookie sales, but also laughed and learned all about California sea lions with a special viewing of A Sea Lion Story.
There are many other great upcoming events for girl and boy scouts here at the park this year.
