Labor Day Weekend Fireworks - Summer's Last Hurrah

last hurrah
n.
- The final performance or effort. Also see swan song. (from thefreedictionary.com)

This week was the 45th anniversary of the Beatles last performance. In case you missed the 100's of stories written about it, the mop-topped quartet rocked for the last time in San Francisco at Candlestick Park on August 29, 1966.

Nearly half a century later, SeaWorld's closing summer just like they did in '66 - with a rockin' good show. Our musical performances are by The Palacios Brothers and the Army Medical Command Band, and we'll cap the night with a brilliant fireworks display.

Now, I realize this is my second blog in a row to mention music, but like I said before - I can't help it. Music has always been a big part of my life. My dad took me to his gigs before I could walk, and he still plays lead guitar to this day. I grew up with sounds of Otis Redding, Van Morrison, and Steely Dan. Here's a video of him playing at B.B. King's in Memphis earlier this month. He's the one on the far right of the stage in this video.

So don't be surprised if you find me in the front row at Ski Stadium next weekend. I'm a sucker for live music under an open sky. Fireworks will be the icing on cake.
