As the opening of Aquatica approaches on May 19, we'll be introducing you to the characters of Aquatica. These characters are imagined identities of the real animals of Aquatica, from stingrays and kookaburras to spoonbills and lizards. As you learn more about these characters, it's our hope that you come to appreciate the species they represent. Their look and names are inspired by the Maori culture - a culture that has inspired many elements of Aquatica.

This is Ke-Re, a curious explorer of fun. His idea of a good time is playing side by side with other sea animals in a care free way and being under water observing sea life up close.
Ke-Re (pronounced kay-ray) is a stingray, a species of fish that’s closely related to the shark. They spend a good deal of their time on the ocean floor where they forage for food, and they are very curious creatures. To swim and explore, stingrays move their whole bodies in a wavy motion that propels them through the water – a motion that looks like flying.
Ke-Re feels at home in Aquatica because people are playing in the water with the carefree spirit of the sea’s animals. The park has a light-hearted feel and lots of places for humans and animals to connect up close
Want to find Ke-Re? Shuffle over to Ke-Re Reef see and feed the magnificent rays and float alongside them at Stingray Falls.
If Ke-Re could talk he would probably say follow me to all things fun! From waterslides, to a relaxing wade and even up-close encounters – there’s so much to do at Aquatica.
