In honor of the gift giving season (see: Christmas, Boxing Day, Hanukkah), SeaWorld San Antonio team members took time to remember domestic animals in need in our local shelters. To support these animals, our team members pitched in for "Pet Tree" donations.
So what is a "Pet Tree?" It's like an Angel Tree, but for canines and felines. Each year, SeaWorld team member Shirlee Crandall works with a local agency that aids animals in need, and group gives her a wish list for their needs. Those needs are posted on a Christmas tree that sits in our office. Over a period of two weeks or so, team members leave their donations under the tree, and we deliver the goods the week before Christmas.
This year, we partnered with the Helotes Humane Society. Every thing from pet crates, cat litter, dog food, blankets, bones, toys, and beds were donated by our team members. On Tuesday, December 20, Shirlee loaded up a truck full of these gifts and dropped them off. My hat's off to Shirlee and all the team members who donated this year!

On a related note, SeaWorld's Happy Tails continues now through Dec. 31. Many thanks to these San Antonio animal shelters for participating in the program this year - San Antonio Humane Society, City of San Antonio Animal Care Services, and Animal Defense League.
Look for my next blog later this week about the recent donation our team members made to Haven for Hope and our Happy Tails animal shelters.
